So, first of all, me and mum went into the shed and cut the nest off. We did eventually cut it off, but in the process, the sharp bit of the scalpel got wedged in the centre of the nest. when we got back to the kitchen mum looked for pincers and behind her back I got the sharp bit out and when mum turned around again, I was holding it in my fingers!
Then in the dissection, I compared the two nests with a Lego man. you could probably fit your head. No, wait, correction. You could fit your FACE in it. It turns out, in the bottom there is a hole which they fly into, and then a little area beneath the hatching area. Then there are 4 big ares for the baby wasps to hatch.
